calcasieu historical preservation society fund
The mission of the Calcasieu Historical Preservation Society (CHPS) is to encourage the preservation of historical buildings, objects, and places relating to the history of Louisiana and Calcasieu Parish, including its natural beauty and all that is distinctive to our state. Through education, advocacy, and hands-on preservation efforts, CHPS helps protect the stories, architecture, and cultural resources that define our community and connect generations. To ensure this work continues well into the future, this 501(c)(3) organization has opened a fund at the Community Foundation of Southwest Louisiana to invest reserve dollars for long-term community preservation efforts.
“Established in 1977, we are close to 50 years of community interest and support for the education and preservation of our built and cultural heritage. The CHPS board felt the Community Foundation of Southwest Louisiana (CFSWLA), as a great steward of community growth and resilience, was the perfect place to entrust accumulated funds for community preservation use,” said Charla Blake, CHPS Board Member.
